Veterans honored in annual ceremony at West Roxbury nursing home

Nursing home residents who served their country with honor and distinction were honored Monday in West Roxbury.
The 14th annual Veterans Day celebration at the German Centre Home saw dozens of veterans and their loved ones gather to honor their service, in addition to local leaders.
“I think support is a verb. Love is a verb and so I wanted to demonstrate that support by coming into the community for Veterans Day,” said Rep. Ayanna Pressley.
“The sacrifice of all of our service members, all they’ve done for our country, what they’ve done for our freedoms it’s important to recognize that,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.
Among those in attendance was a 102-year-old World War II veteran who was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He shared that he feels appreciation and pride for his service, especially on Veterans Day.
