Resident Life Program:
Our long term care program offers a comprehensive recreational program, tailored to meet residents’ individual desires. Our programs include:
- Exercise and movement groups
- Pet therapy visits
- Leisure education
- Cognitive fitness groups such as trivia and word games
- Sensory stimulation activities
- Community outings
- Expressive therapy
Our many volunteers and students allow us to provide extra assistance in groups and activities. Resident Life Assistants offer programs of up to 12 hours per day, seven days a week.
German Centre is committed to providing a variety of experiences for our residents’ quality of life. Our resident life staff includes a full-time music therapist who offers expressive therapy services. Music and art programs, whether alone or in conjunction with one another, are designed to fit the abilities and needs of each resident to restore, improve or maintain physical, mental, cognitive and emotional health. Group sessions, as well as individual visits, are provided to enhance residents’ overall health and well-being. German Centre also serves as a clinical training site for music therapy interns from Lesley University, further enriching the program.
Good nutrition is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and developing a positive outlook. Our licensed dietician plays an integral role in every resident’s care plan and the culinary staff works creatively and collaboratively to help residents benefit from and fully enjoy meal times. We strive to be creative as we look for ways to present meals that are diverse, delicious and healthy. On a regular basis, a musician performs during the afternoon meal to further enhance residents’ dining experiences. Our registered dietician and dietary technicians work closely with the skilled nursing team to assure the best possible outcome – that residents receive the food they like and the nutrition they need.
