Will Senior Place evaluate the client’s needs?

A registered nurse completes an assessment prior to admission into the program and designs a health treatment personal care plan that addresses the needs and challenges of each individual. Clients are evaluated on the basis of health conditions, such as cardiac disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s. In addition, clients are assessed for functional needs, such as the need for assistance with mobility or toileting, to ensure that they will receive the care they need while at Senior Place.

What senior health services will be provided?

Senior Place offers senior health services such as blood pressure checks, medication administration and management, blood sugar monitoring, insulin administration, disease management, and dressing changes. A registered nurse on site can provide any health service as requested with a written doctor’s order.

Does Senior Place provide meals and snacks?

Nutritious meals and snacks are served daily and Senior Place can accommodate special diets. Nutrition assessment and education is given to clients on an ongoing basis.

Is Senior Place prepared to deal with special issues?

Senior Place staff can assist with issues such as incontinence or difficult behavior. All staff is trained in dementia-specific and elderly care, enabling us to care for each client individually and appropriately. Senior Place is not a secured (locked) environment, thus we are unable to accept clients who are exit-seeking or are not responsive to redirection when wandering.

Will you help arrange therapeutic services if it is required?

Physical, occupational or speech therapy can be provided on-site as ordered by a physician with German Centre for Extended Care therapists.

Does Senior Place provide services for people with different types of impairments as well as those in good physical health?

Senior Place provides services for people with physical and cognitive impairments as well as those in good physical health. We are handicap accessible and the activity program provides stimulation and meaningful activities for clients with a variety of needs.

Do you offer support for families?

Nursing and social services provide caregiver support on an ongoing daily basis. Staff is available to answer questions, provide support or implement family meetings.

What additional services do you offer?

Podiatry and hairdresser services are available upon request.

What staffing levels can I expect?

On a daily basis, Senior Place employs an RN, three certified skilled nursing technicians and an activity director. A part-time social service coordinator is available four times a week.

What are your hours of operation?

Senior Place is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

How are clients transported to Senior Place?

Some clients arrive with family members while others use transportation services provided by outside contractors. We can help arrange transportation.

How is the fee determined?

The cost for Senior Place services is $70.00 per day. We do not offer half day services.

What assistance is available to pay for adult day health programs?

Locally, Aging Services Access Points (Ethos, Hessco, Springwell), assist with payment based on client health status and income level. Mass Health and the Veterans Administration will also pay for qualifying elders.

How many clients can participate on a daily basis?

Senior Place accepts 30 clients per day. Clients attend between two to five days per week, based on client need.

What is your payment plan?

German Centre for Extended Care is a preferred provider for most major insurance plans, including: Medicare and Medicaid, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, EverCare, and Tufts Health Plan, among others. We accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard and personal checks.
