Facts and Figures
Deutsches Altenheim, German Centre for Extended Care, was founded in 1914 by the German Ladies Aid Society of Boston, which is still its guiding force. Originally planned as a retirement residence for elderly German Americans, the organization now serves persons of any nationality, race, or religion who have need of a full range of elder services in a German cultural environment.
Governance
501C(3) Charitable Corporation, Deutsches Altenheim, Inc. is under the direction of a Board of Trustees elected from membership in the German Ladies Aid Society of Boston.
Licensure
The German Centre for Extended Care is licensed as a Charitable Home for the Aging by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to provide 133 Skilled Nursing Beds, Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, and Adult Day Health through VNA Care Plus.
Certifications
Certified for Federal Medicare and Massachusetts Medicaid (welfare), the German Centre is accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Approved provider for Massachusetts Blue Cross, Harvard-Pilgrim Healthcare, and EverCare System.

Mission Statement
The mandate of Deutsches Altenheim, Inc. is to provide an elder care setting
that cultivates and preserves the traditions and culture of persons of German
heritage.
We welcome individuals of every religion, ethnicity, and background, who may
choose to benefit from our ability to offer the most advanced health care
services in a German cultural environment.
Recognizing the diversity of individual needs and circumstances, we are
committed to provide those services that will assist each individual to achieve
